Almond blossom
If you look at yesterday's photo, you could scarcely believe these are two consecutive days. After scraping the ice off the car, I joined the walking group in Fitou on the hills above the coast. The sun shone and it was a balmy 14 degrees. The blossom was out on the wild plum and almond trees. We met a couple gathering nuts. It was lovely to have the smell of the sea combined with the smell of the garrigue, where wild thyme and rosemary were growing in abundance. We clambered in and out of a few orris or shepherds' stone shelters and had a pleasant picnic. Pineau des Charentes was available for those who wanted an aperitif. On the way back Canigou and the surrounding peaks sparkled with their new covering of snow.
