Central Station
Off to Brussels for the Opera. Let me explain. My cousin's partner has been commissioned to write another piece for the Brussels Opera House. He does a lot of work with children and this Opera, Sindbad, has 250 children and young people performing alongside two adults- a soprano Scheherazade and a bass Sindbad. It tells a story of a man burying his relatives and leaving the next generation to try to sort things out. The children reflect the diversity of present day Brussels, as does the audience- many of whom must be related to the performers. It's a fantastic piece of music.
Old town Brussels is full of art deco buildings, and the central station is a good example, with Lowry-esque figures rushing up and down the steps.
