365 #48 - By Example
Today was the perfect time for a self-portrait for several reasons:
1) I wasn't leaving the house as I was unwell, but after a feverish morning I felt better later this afternoon and since the gear was already set up, it was the easiest way to fulfil my blip needs.
2) I'm about to do some lessons that will involve portrait work and having an unedited SP ready (all the lumps, bumps, lines and grey hairs) is the best way to get people thinking about the value of being able to put yourself in your subject's place and have a proper dialogue with them about the work you're about to do together.
3) These lessons invariably lead to post shoot editing lessons too, so there's a ready made file.
4) My eyes were still haggard and puffy, which will provide a good challenge for point 3!
That said, the colour manipulation for black and white here is quite kind to some areas so it could be worse, but at some point this week there will be a less generous higher contrast one. Gulp.
