Tribute to a majestic tree

Due to the storm on Friday, a much loved Cedar Tree fell down. I had photographed it as recently as 6th January this year but chose to use another photograph for the blip that day. I have placed two pictures of this very majestic tree on Flickr.

I used to pass by it almost every day. It was very sad to see it lying on its side today - helpless, battered and broken. I guess the ground was so saturated that it couldn't hold the tree against the gusty wind.

The plant in today's blip is Salix caprea. I came across it in the town centre this evening.

This blip is dedicated to the Cedar Tree - it will be sorely missed.
