Turtles Revisited

I knew I had some somewhere!

Many years ago my sons used to collect 'beanie' toys and for some weeks the turtle on the right, imaginatively called Turty', was the younger son's favourite. At some point he went missing, just before we took the boys to Florida, so while in Sea World we replaced it with the rather inadequate one on the left. Fortunately the original Turty turned up a couple of weeks after we got home under a heap of rubbish in the back of my car.

As an aside, my boys were so enamoured of these beanies that they decided we should buy their two younger cousins (my brother's sons) one each one Christmas. I don't have a problem with my brother but my sister in law would put 'tiger mom' to shame. Shortly after Christmas we got the duty thank you letter from these two boys, telling us that "we have put the beanies on the shelf, with all the others."

I felt quite saddened by that - aren't toys supposed to be for playing with?
