Plants

A widened scope for the lab and my project: as of today we also study plants! For the first time, I am now also taking the roots of the plants the aphids feed on along in my bar coding project. Hopefully their genetics can tell me what plants those roots belong to, tracing them back to their plants out in the forest proved nearly impossible.
My colleague and I started pretty much without experience or protocol today and figured we needed a positive control as well. We quickly decided the contents of a bag of chamomile tea would do the trick. I'm curious to see what I'll find...maybe it isn't chamomile at all what's in the bag, but some grass or so :) Oh, sometimes you gotta love science!
