Alpaca Shearing

Usually an intense event for Debbie and Sophie when their alpacas are shorn, this morning's event went off remarkable smoothly. There were only 10 this year instead of 15 and the shearer was a young woman! You can see her and her helper friend here along with a young man from South Africa. The two girls are from Arizona. Talk about an international team.

There were other local young men who helped also - and neighbours - so a good crew and the whole job completed in a record hour. We decided the two girls had a great calming effect on the alpacas - who of course are not too happy about the whole process.

This is Pepper being shorn and you can see the lovely black fleece Bernal is holding there.
