The Commander
Identification - Moduza procris, commander.
Never seen this butterfly before today. It took me a while to find, as all I had to go on was the general wing shape. I went through all my butterflies, examining the wing shape, and only one family came close, the Limenitidinae family. It didn’t take much of a web search to find it after that. A basic knowledge of butterfly cataloging is invaluable.
Research revealed that I should not have come across this species, as it is essentially a lowland butterfly. Must be on his holidays. I know it is a male because it kept settling on a concrete wall in the sun, a female would have much more taste.
