Sud the Janitor

So this is the type of work we do on our BDR project. That's final year of a Master's in Mechanical Engineering. Sud's having a ball.

Let me explain. The rig was finally ready for the pump to be turned on! After weeks of hard work put in, particularly by Ashley and Thomas, we finally got to see whether our whole channel would be ripped apart by the pump's vibrations. Turns out the pump is super chilled and the whole rig works really well. That is, until the channel fills up entirely and the pressure starts rising. That's when water starts cascading out of gaps in the top section. Literally, buckets full of water flooded A008, as the technicians watched and laughed! Ah well, turns out the sealing we did on this day was good, but we don't have enough clamps to properly close all the gaps. Gotta make some more now. Other than that though, our rig is almost ready to use! I think we're all pretty happy about that. Starting to run out of time though, it's gotta be said.

Other than that, I did some work in the RLG and then headed for Real Ale Festival! I love that event, been great fun for the last three years, definitely a staple of uni! Here's a couple photos by Erin and Daniels. A whole group of Photosoc-ers went which was good fun. Luckily I had a cheat sheet provided by the surf bros as to what the best ales were. Also, the mango cider was delicious. Ended up staying there a lot more time than expected, but still managed to head back to mine for pre-drinks (or post-pre-drinks-pre-drinks) on time. Imke's visiting for the weekend, so she came with! Anand, Emma, Mahfood and Anu joined and we all hit the much anticipated Mr. Scruff night at the Assembly. Good fun dancing with the homies and a great way to end an action-packed day. It couldn't have ended better.

peace
