Q is for... Quite a long way.
Today the DDW challenge is Q.
Q is for quite a long way out for a man with a bicycle. Southport pier is the second longest in Britain, 1112 metres in length and the oldest iron pier in the country. It was opened in 1860.
This gentleman was well out from the promenade, I suspect he could be collecting coal. After storms small pieces of coal get washed up onto the beach, I think it is dislodged from coal seams out at sea. This coal is very hard and is perhaps anthracite.
