Not quite Niagara!
Had an impromptu trip to the Elan Valley dams in Wales today as we were headed for Ludlow first( which has always been a favourite of our family long before it's local food fame.) Thenas the weather was sunny we decided to go further via Knighton and Rhayder to the Elan Valley where the dams are spectacular at the moment after so much rain.
The water was indeed pouring over Caban Coch like Niagara (almost)- it's very rare for the whole curtain of dam to be pouring water. I was spoilt for choice for blips but settled on this one of Pont ar Elan because I thought the light was spectacular. It's heaven to breathe in the crisp mountain air so close to 'home'.
The dams were built between the 19th Century and middle 20th century providing Birmingham with Welsh water fed by gravity to the conurbation.
