A J D Ferguson work outside the eponymous gallery. The inscription above the door in the background reads Aquam Igne et Aqua Haurio (lifting water through fire and water). The original public water supply, a steam driven pump lifting water from the river to filter beds on Moncreiffe Island and back to the cistern which is now the JD Ferguson art gallery.
