Circle vs. Line
The eternal battle between good and evil is only a mere shadow cast by the battle between the circle and the line.
The line feels alone in a design. It needs supporting lines to develop into a form; however, a circle is innately a form. A circle can quickly flow you into multiple spaces along its curve; therefore, a straight line can rapidly send you to a single space.
The objective of a Landscape Architect is to design for a pleasing experience, not to rapidly send you to a single space. Do you want to live your life in the fast food line or in a park enjoying a picnic with your friends. Many people choose the fast food line because it is more convenient and customary to the social norm.
Rectilinear design is the metaphorical social norm. It is more convenient to carry the illusion of complementing an existing space by simply echoing it.
Instead, find balance in combining the circle with the line. Furthermore, combine the circle with the straight line while combining with an organic line (now you are getting somewhere).
