Maxstoke Priory Ruins - Doors
When I posted the picture of Maxstoke Gatehouse Ruins the other day, several of you remarked on the old doors of the Gatehouse. Well, since it was a lovely sunny morning I drove back that way and stopped to take a more detailed shot of the doors for you. They are probably best viewed large and you can see the doors are covered in heavy nails or rivets to add to their strength. Also the door on the right has a door within a door - this saved having to open the full door to let single visitors in or out I suppose. You can also see a bit more of the lovely vaulted ceiling of this wonderful old building. By the way, the blue milk bottle crate is not original!
