What struck my fancy

Priory, Castle Acre

The Priory dates from around 1087AD and was active till 1537 when Henry VIII put a stop to it through The Dissolution of the Monasteries, wresting power from Rome and confiscating the wealth, treasure and land that had been accumulated by monasteries up and down the land, partly from gullible citizenry who sought to buy a ticket to Heaven. Execution awaited any abbots who resisted or concealed wealth from the king's agents.

Although the Priory is in ruins this image does help you appreciate its former grandeur and scale. Monochrome and a tint seem to help and convey a sense of antiquity, I hope you agree.

It's a bit better viewed LARGE
