The Great Mushroom Caper, Part 2: Cave Paintings!

First, here's a link to the original mushroom caper Blip, in which the mushroom caves were first discovered.

Cave paintings: the conversation.

"Bird, bird, woolly mammoth, bird, and . . . Say, now, WAIT a minute! I think we've GOT something HERE!"

"Hey, they look like US!"

"What do you MEAN, you think they look like us? You mean we may have descended from an ancient tribe of crittergators?"

"Look, I can see the shadow of my nose on the wall!"

"Who keeps shining that darn SPOTLIGHT in our faces!? Sheesh! What is this, a police line-up? We're INNOCENT, I tell you!"

The tune: Gordon Lightfoot, A Painter Passing Through.

Photographer's notes:

Historical accuracy note: These "cave paintings" were based on the Paleolithic paintings found in a cave in Lascaux, France. Which are truly awesome, and maybe you should do a google image search to find out more!

Technical note: Do you have any idea how long it takes and how difficult it is to carve a woolly mammoth into a sliced mushroom with a toothpick? The answers: Longer than you think, and more difficult than you might ever suspect! A mushroom is a tough medium to "paint" on!

Weather note: This is what happens to a person's brain waves when she has been forced to shovel more than TWO FEET of new snow that arrived in less than a week! And as I'm posting this Blip: an early-morning freezing rain and ice storm has paralyzed central Pennsylvania, causing many accidents and road closures. And so, this crittergator cave art is brought to you by: The Winter That Will Not Quit!
