Cathedral Church of St Marie
I was having lunch with a retired colleague today at a restaurant in Sheffield called Egos. On arrival I had noticed this church spire standing out so distinctly amongst the modern buildings and contemporary shops like Starbooks. When we sat down we were told that their gas was off so they could not provide hot food, we had a drink, on the house, and decided to go elsewhere.
As I walked back past this view it attracted me again so I thought that will be my blip. I have enhanced it through digital means which I think gives an interesting effect. Some detail about the spire below.
The Cathedral Church of St Marie is the Roman Catholic cathedral in Sheffield, England. It lies in a slightly hidden location, just off the main shopping street in the city, but signals its presence with a tall spire. It is an especially fine example of an English Roman Catholic Church, with much fine interior decoration. Re-ordering of the Sanctuary following the Second Vatican Council, has been sensitive. There are several particularly notable side altars, as well as statues and painted tiles.
