Hotel Avalon, Riga

Good first impressions of the Hotel Avalon. When we arrived, it was still prior to check in time, but they were accommodating, looked after our luggage and also warned us that they were currently without water because of an incident with the city water supply. We went for lunch, came back and while the water was back on, there were no rooms because of a backlog of cleaning. We sat in the bar/cafe and drank coffee until they came to fetch us when our room was ready.

The room is immaculate, well supplied with facilities, and has a huge bathroom. The two single beds are perhaps a little narrow and a little hard and aren't totally my preference. But they will do fine. One is already under occupation - we are both keen on an early night!
