Painting with Lighting
A studio night with a difference at the Camera Club. The model was ill, so instead we had a go at painting with light.
Camera on tripod, cable release attached, shutter speed set to BULB. ISO 400, f/16, AWB. Set up the shot and focused on auto, then switched to manual focus and stablisation off. Black back cloth and table cloth.
In the pitch black we used a variety of torches to paint light around the instruments. Sometimes we put coloured filters over the lights, including Quality Street wrappers. I used a paper hankie to dull the light. It is quite tricky.
Here is shotlandka's with a touch of musical artistry.
