We're going to need a bigger ladder

Finishing touches being being done to the Alexander Building, a new development on the gap site that was left after the Fringe venue the 'Gilded Balloon' went up in flames in 2002. It links the Cowgate with Chambers Street and South Bridge and contains an hotel, a Sainsbury's outlet and the obligatory coffee shop.

This image shows the necessity of having a 'mate' holding the ladder steady whilst you shout through your order for a flat white and a latte to go. You don't want to spill a drop at those prices.
