Northern Lights! (Aurora Borealis!)

Our friends Ken and Rita joined us today in Grand Marais. We had a nice day driving around admiring the new snow hanging heavy on the trees in the forests and the beautiful ice formations on the lake. This evening Ken and Don went out to do some night shooting and Rita and I were comfortable in the house. Then we got a phone call that they were seeing northern lights and we had to come and see! This was very exciting so Rita and I took off into the hills. Thankfully we had been on the same road during the day so knew where to go. By the time we arrived the lights had started to fade, but were still beautiful. Nothing like you see in more northern areas, but fun for us.
I also got shots of the Milky Way, Orion, and the Big and Little Dippers.
