Sketchy Sweater
OK, I confess--I'm more interested in the Olympics than coming up with a stellar blip. I spent so much time finishing this sweater, and all the times I've taken it apart and put it together again, that I only made it out the door today to:
1) Write the check which closes out my Berkeley bank account and deposit it in my new Santa Rosa account
2) Go to the artist's supply store with my wonderful neighbor who has agreed to teach me how to paint. I stocked up on paints, brushes, paper pencils and a little tool box to put it all in.
Closing my Berkeley account and opening a Santa Rosa one seems significant in terms of making a new home here in Sonoma County. I ran into our across-the=street neighbor today at the mailboxes. He and his partner were very kind to invite us to a pre -Halloween brunch at their house before we ever moved in. We've wanted to return the favor ever since, but life keeps intervening. It will happen soon. We've had so many wonderful encounters with our neighbors here that it has made the transition painless.
When it comes to the the art supplies--I've always considered myself competent in reproducing patterns in quilting, knitting, and sewing, and I love the craft. I've never had the same certainty about my creativity. I'm really looking forward to learning to develop my creative side through attempting to reproduce what I see on paper with paint. I have a lot more faith in my ability to develop a "low tech" skill than a high tech one for which I have no understanding!
Now, if you will forgive me, I must get back to the "Ice Princesses" When are the Olympics over?
