The Steinway stands ready
Barry Douglas was the pianist at LSO St Luke's in Old Street, one of London's most atmospheric concert halls - even beginning to challenge the Wigmore Hall.
Barry Douglas played 4 Piano Pieces and Sonata No. 2 in F-sharp minor by Brahms, as well as two Nocturnes by the Irish born John Field.
All were superb, but the encore was completely captivating - one of Rachmaninov's Moments Musicaux. I thought it was by Schubert, in fact I was convinced! Douglas corrected me after the concert - he said it was forgivable to assume Schubert…
I couldn't photograph him playing - that would have been really unforgivable.
