Everything is Awesome
In a year that's going to see Captain America II, Need for Speed, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Amazing Spider-Man 2, Noah, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, The Hobbit: There & Back Again and How to Train Your Dragon 2, it is entirely possible that the best movie of the year has already arrived.

They made Outtakes!
Serious reasons include it being funny, not just for kids but for pesky grown-up types as well, having a better storyline than most blockbusters (I'm looking at you Transformers 4), some serious voice talent (take a bow Will Arnett, you are truly Batman) and the animation is amazing - there's some element of stop-motion according to the credits, but I could not see where - the attention to detail is incredible. Additionally Will Ferrell and Jadon Sand get props for their roles - probably the most challenging in the film - but I'm not saying which ones for want of spoiling.
One slight criticism and that's some outside influence, probably due to WB producing the film - the DC Lego characters are there but there's a distinct lack of Marvel. I wanted a Hulk moment.
