The Fort
A really old and solid building right at the far end of the promenade in Funchal, perched on the rocks.
It houses the Museum of Modern Art. And an excellent restaurant that is wonderful fun (an all in price to include wines etc).
I managed the Levada dos Tornos ok yesterday, without slowing the others down too badly. The last part (near Monte for those who know the island) was very treacherous as there were trees to scramble over and part of the edge of the levada wall had crumbled. We had to do a big jump over it (thank goodness for a patient brother in law).
Today I've just relaxed. I went along to CR7, the Museu Cristiano Ronaldo. (Don't laugh) It's actually great fun and to see all the match balls from big matches where he's scored hat-tricks really is impressive. And all those Balons d'Or ! Plus his national honour he was recently awarded by the Portuguese government. Whatever you think of his public image, he really has done so much for Madeira, kids and football.
This magical sunshine. Yes, it does still exist.
