Paraffin inspection lamp.

We had an auction at Harlington Locomotive Society last night and I could not resist bidding in this little piece of history!

After a bit of inter web research I have discovered that although it may look like a Tilley product, these were actually cobbled together from ordinary Tilley Lanterns by London Transport in the late 1970s.

Just waiting for it to get dark now so I can see exactly how bright it is!
