Chandelier Charm and Celebrations
Went to a friend's house - they have installed two stunning chandeliers.
In case you wondered about the etymology (which you probably didn't, but we did):
The word chandelier appeared in the English language in the late 14th century, borrowed directly from 12th-century Old Spanish. This was a new spelling of the 10th-century French word chandelabre, which comes from the Latin candelabrum, itself from the Latin candela (meaning candle).
Original chandeliers were simple wooden crosses, with holes to place candles in. But now they tend to be rather more elaborate.
And the celebration - youngest has had an offer from Leeds! Good ol' Leeds. We'll open the champagne on Sunday when the Lydens get back from Paris.
