Early Escape

Managed to get away early from work and get here by about 7, last night. I have been coming to this house since 1978 and it is always great to come back. It's owned by two friends who I met on my first day at University, luckily we've kept in contact over the years. It's interesting to note the changes to the farm over the years; they've managed to buy the land (it was rented from Boots when I first came) and how the number of people directly employed has shrunk (like many places). Yesterday's meeting was notable for typical display from an elected member. It's amazing what a sniff of political power does to people; they suddenly become experts on matters which they clearly have little knowledge or expertise. So we were treated to 50 mins on 'customer experience' from a fat bloke in a golfing sweater.
