Early Morning Shoot

The nor-west wind howled around the house over-night. The top of an old peach tree was snapped off. Sadly it was laden with fruit, most of it not quite ripe. Hannah’s mum, here from the UK kindly laid it all out in a safe place indoors in order to allow more ripening.
The nor-west wind did not deter me and two lads from our planned early morning shoot on the Wither Hills. We were at the car-park just after 6.30am. Alas I had forgotten to attach a tripod plate to my camera. Luckily the camera has such a good dynamic range that hand-holding was not too much of a problem.
There was a mad scatter to get up the first hill to catch the red skies of dawn. We had a wonderful two and a half hours up there on the hills. And we had a lot of fun particularly when I started whooping and dancing around in excitement when “the light came right “for some shots. I suspect the boys were rather amused at an older lady getting so excited. But it is just wonderful being up there on such a lovely morning with amazing clouds to enhance the skies. I love it…. I can’t wait to get up there again.
Today’s blip shows Joe capturing the view across the lower Wairau plain towards Cloudy Bay and Port Underwood. Just magic!
