My small claim to fame
None of you know this but my Grandad Monty Wicks set up a pioneering film studio with Cecil Hepworth (his cousin) in Walton on Thames at the turn of the century circa 1900 possibly a bit before, called HEPWIX studios.
They experimented with silent movies and pioneering techniques and Infact Cecil Hepworth is incredibly famous in the history of film!
I've never seen one of his old films as so few remain they were destroyed for use in the war :( but to my delight the Arundel Museum had a showing of TANSY which was an utter delight and filmed all around Burpham which is where we always walk the dogs....and I never knew of this until a couple of nights ago!
I have an autobiography called Came the Dawn written by Cecil which I now must read! Apparently he was an incredibly loyal man to his staff and they to him when the industry started to fail, and the Americans started to take over.
He was also an inventor and has many new ideas and inventions credited to him!
Wish some of this talent had past down the genes!!!!
