STRUCTURES IN BLACK AND WHITE
I was out and about today taking photographs of various structures and enjoying being in the sunshine.
The left hand photograph is an electricity pylon or a transmission tower. I do actually enjoy seeing the different pylons when I am on a journey and particularly like the ones that look like giants walking so perhaps I should join the Pylon Appreciation Society.
The top right photograph is a tree silhouetted against the tented market in the town centre. This market is on the site of the town's oldest covered market, first established in 1892. It now sells all manner of things, but I can remember as a child going there to buy a triangular paper bag full of cough candy or pear drops.
The bottom right shows the David Murray John Tower, the town's tallest building, named after the politician whose energy contributed to the influx of small industry to the town after WWII. It is 83m high with 21 floors, and dominates the skyline. Sadly Mr. Murray John never lived long enough to see its completion and opening in 1976. I used to work with a lady who lived in one of the top flats, and it had a magnificent view all over the town.
Thank you to all you lovely blippers for your kind comments yesterday - my hands are much better, but I am still not commenting that much because if I type for too long, my thumbs become very sore. Thank you for your understanding and for hanging in there with me. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
This quote is dedicated to all my Blip friends:
In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.
It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.
We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.
