Scotland's Establishment

Good day. Leisurely start, small domestic repairs, washing, washing, washing, chasing washing around garden, J wanted to go into Morningside, me to Calton Hill to try a few shots (not been there for many years), bite of lunch, home, grandson and daughter in law here, off to B&~Q for tools and equipment for domestic tasks, home, drink coming up and dinner to follow.

Found fantastic views on Calton Hill, tried many shots, colour and mono, played with software effects, decided against any. This is a monochrome shot which focuses on part of Scotland's establishment. To the left is Holyrood House where members of the Royal Family live when in Edinburgh (Lion Rampant flag flies when in residence), centre is the new Scottish Parliament, focus of the referendum on independence later in the year, in the foreground is the old Royal High School which was mooted as the home of Scotland's Parliament fifteen years ago before the new one was built. and the futuristic building to the right is Dynamic Earth representing culture and science.
