Goldfinches

I've been struggling to get any birds to visit the feeders in my garden, despite putting out a variety of treats. There was a coal tit and some robins and chaffinches but I've not seen them for a couple of months now.

I think it's due to lack of cover as we don't have any trees or bushes, and the danger of sparrowhawks, so I headed down to my parents house today to spend a lazy afternoon sitting in their garden photographing their birds.

Amongst the many I saw were blue tits, robins, and their very friendly thrush who has only just returned after being absent for almost a year. He used to pop inside their back door to visit them, so they are delighted by his return :)

I've never actually seen goldfinches before although I understand they are quite common.

I feel a trip to the garden centre coming on to procure a tree ;)
