Serious Sightseeing

Did a lot today! Was Andy's birthday (so shame I don't gave a blip with him). Begun figuring out the metro (which proved very useful throughout the day!). Then to the Eiffel Tower - sun was shining most of the day - a very welcome contrast to yesterday! Then to the Champs Élysées, where we wandered along looking in shops, trying to find a public toilet in vain (and getting chased out of a cafe where we cheekily used the toilets then got made to pay for the privilege by a grumpy waiter). Had a look at the Arc de Triomphe, then set off to look at Monet's water lilys at l'Orangerie. Then a wander in the sun down the Tuileries gardens to the Louvre - where none of us actually ever went in due to the massive queues! And so on to Hard Rock Cafe for Andy's birthday lunch, followed by a wander through the streets at Montmartre and into some lovely little shops, up the cable car to Sacre Coeur and more wandering, back down and all the way back along metro line 12 to our hotel for a swim. Phew!
