Day 54: Poinciana
I am still finding a few Poinciana trees still flowering at the end of Summer (Southern Hemisphere).
When a Pinociana tree flowers, the brightly coloured flowers certainly standout among the green landscape/canopy.
According to the late Colin Campbell in a Gardening Australia (ABC:2006) fact sheet, Poinciana is native to Madagascar, and were planted in Brisbane in the early years to beautified the streets. These bright orange flowers herald the coming of summer and also signal the start of the storm season. Interesting facts:-)
