Uncertain Emotions

Hand

I watched a programme on the iPlayer last night about the human hand.

Whilst many moons ago, I was an anatomist and spend many hours studying and seeing for myself the inner workings of the hand, it was fascinating to be reminded of just how amazingly well-designed and engineered the hands (and the brain that controls them) are.

As with most parts of our bodies, we tend to take them for granted until they begin to fail.

And it was humbling to see on the programme a woman's forearm and hand - a hand that probably held her husband and comforted her child, laid bare in its anatomical detail on a cold, metal table.
