Edgar Wood
Edgar Wood was a Middleton born and Manchester based Architect in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He was influenced by both the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts Movements.
This house, 36 Mellalieu Street (1906), dispensed with the pitched roof altogether and was the first of a series of completely flat-roofed buildings which established Wood as a pioneer of Modern architecture.
