Naked in the Rain

A view of NYC from The Standard

The Standard is a trendy new hotel in NYC. My friend (see previous post) works in the industry and decided we're going to stay here. Upon checking in, he found out there was only one bed and no roll always nor larger rooms were available, but we figured we'd check the room out regardless.

The room was small, even for NYC standards. The bed didn't even look to be a queen size bed. The carpets were coming up in the corners, the trendy table was scratched to hell. It was a dinky room and my friend was annoyed.

However, one Eff-ing nice view.

We had to check out. Only after expressing his unhappiness with the room (which cost $600/night) did they try to move us to another room, but he was inconsolable at this point since he already asked for an upgrade.

Fifteen minutes later we were in a different hotel in SOHO.

While The Standard is pretty hip, cool, new, and probably a fun bar to visit or eat at the restaurant. The rooms leave a little to be desired.
