Musings of a Mortal

A view from the Coo

Vane farm today for another instalment of Outdoor Church!!

Since we have started them back in January 2010, we have done 22 - some have been more successful that others and some more memorable (a bit like a lot of things in life!!).

Today we headed up to the RSPB site at Vane Farm, Kinross.

The weather was very stormy and there were not many birds flying today but we still had a great time - mostly taking shelter in the hides (or behind one of the many fancy wooden screens they had dotted around like the one in the picture today) rather than looking for wildlife!!

"Twitchers" will often travel many miles to see birds especially if they are rare and don't often come to these shores....why because for them it is a special moment - one not to be missed and it was with that in mind that gave us the inspiration for today.

What we wanted to convey today was the fact that in order to meet with God, sometimes (though not all the time) we have to take ourselves away to a quiet or even a special place - and its there- in that place - that we often encounter God. And for different people, it can be different places - a church, a cathedral, a celebration event, a corner of a room, a garden, on the sea shore....

Jesus often withdrew to the mountainside to pray to His Father in Heaven.....I think the mountainside sounds like a great place to me!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
