Nunton Hose - a little bit of history

Benbecula is not an island noted for its architectural treasures. The closest it comes, in my opinion, is the Nunton buildings - here you can see Nunton House. Looking across Loch Mor, past the Wigeons and Teal, on a sunny (ish) day and it has a certain grey solidity that looks impressive.
Whilst having a connection with Bonnie Prince Charlie is claimed for nearly every cave and old building on the isles, the claim of Nunton has more credence than most as it was the home of the Clan Ranald who were instrumental in helping Bonnie Prince Charlie escape with Flora Macdonald over the sea to Skye disguised as a maid. There is some evidence that that disguise was effected in the house.
