The Rain On The (Flood) Plain
There has been a lot of rain in Central Scotland recently. No, not nearly as much as the poor folk of south-west England have had to endure. But still quite a lot of rain.
Take a look at this picture. Do you see the lifebelt? That would presumably be on dry land normally. But it seems as if the River Forth has claimed that land as its own.
Taking this picture has taught me some lessons. Just in case anyone ever asks my advice about doing a 365, here are a few suggestions:
1) When you are going anywhere - especially if you are travelling alone - leave early. You may find you want to go out and egt that day's photo en route.
2) Carry hiking boots in the boot of the car at all times. You never know when you might need to walk a bit to get the best angle. Waterproof and mudproof overtrousers are a good idea too.
3) Put all this stuff in a four wheel drive. My car is distinctly 2WD in nature, and there are times I wonder if I'm putting it somewhere it would be wiser for it not to go.
