Time Travel
After two long days inside working from 8 til 8, watching the sun blaze in through the windows to illuminate the painting, it came as no surprise that Monday should be grey. Day off work as our systems are down, and rather than have us twiddle thumbs aimlessly, we get the day off if we do 5 hours on a weekend day in the next 4 weeks. Sounds like a plan!
So we woke, had breakfast, tidied up some loose ends and were out by 11; (OK, so I did some work and could not resist the lure of creeping back into bed...!)
But out, got a 44 to Balerno and started matching down the WOL path with the aim of buying a light shade and having lunch somewhere.
We walked and we walked and we talked and we talked; fresh air freeing up brain cells after 2 days of stagnant air and paint fumes. The forecast was for rain but turned out to be more grey than rain.
We wandered through our past, back to early walks, furtive hand holding, the move into indiscretion, and eventually ended up at our pay day lunch haunt for a couple of years. Still a decent fish and chips and bottle of wine for £20 and then onto our symbolic bridge and a seemingly fruitless search for a light shade.
From Wickes and Sainsbury's to Argos on North Bridge, we finally wound up at John Lewis and for £40 found the very thing.
And although we knew we had to spend the night in our respective beds, we hung around, watched Filth on the lap top and finally I drifted off reluctantly at 1015 and staggered into the house that had all the hallmarks of not having been inhabited for days....
Lovely shot of the Water of Leith at - Currie? Dark, mysterious, calm, soothing, inviting.
