Robin La Roca's journal

What a day.

And this was just the start of it.

Up at 7, picked up the van at 8.30 and started loading my worldly possessions soon after. It wasn't long until Simon and Dave arrived to help, and we powered through, got it done really quickly, splendid work chaps. So we had time for a car-run to the recycle centre, which will save me about a day-and-a-half's work and effort this week.

Set off at 11:20 and had a clear sunny drive up to Sheffield. I like driving long distances every now and again, though the M1 doesn't give many inspiring views (though at one point there's a wind-farm on both sides which is very aesthetically pleasing).

Got to Sheffield and we (Vivien, Holmesy, George, Alison and Alex) got the van unloaded in similar quick time, then we got ready to go around to Lilly and Dave's for "nibbles and drinks" - where (you've guessed it) I was duly nailed by 30 people at my surprise 'Welcome To Sheffield" party. I've never had a surprise party (I don't think I've even ever been to one). Lovely poeple, good wishes, some really thoughtful and clever presents, what a splendid evening.

Absolutely overwhelmed and by the end of the day totally physically and mentally exhausted, and very happy.

So this will be one of (if not THE) last time that regular viewers see this view as by the end of the week this will no longer be my view in the morning - just a clean-up job to do in my KTown flat now (which I would like to be over sooner rather than later!)
