AMCs Best Picture Showcase, where the theater shows all of the Oscar nominees for Best Picture in one day (or, since they've moved to more than five nominees, half of the nominees spread over two Saturdays), is one of my favorite days of the year. It's seriously the best theater experience you could ask for. Think about it: who would spend $30 to sit in a movie theater for ten hours but people who really love movies? Plus most of them are rated R and it's ten fucking hours, you really think someone's bringing their kid to that? The movies are almost always excellent, and even when they aren't they stir up great conversations during the breaks. All told if you love movies, you should try this out. Bonus: You get to be super informed on Oscar day! Super bonus: This year we got little plastic bowties.
