Long Tailed Tit nesting
Beautiful day again - I spent an hour watching two long-tailed tits building their nest.
See it larger and more detailed here.
It is in the shape of a ball, on the side of a tree, made from moss, stuck to ivy tendrils and the bark of the tree with mud, that they pick up in tiny beakfulls, pressing and weaving t into their construction - marvelous.
One of the birds, I guess it was the female, was trying the nest for size from time-to-time - I was fascinated.
I also saw a much noisier and less delicate Green woodpecker pecking away at a hole in a tree to make its nest, I couldn't get a decent shot though as there were too many branches, so difficult to focus.
I hope your Monday is a good one!
