Went to a meeting this evening about saving a local pub. Developers have bought the pub and want to convert it to housing.
The community committee are planning to 'crowd source' the money and apply for grants in order to run as a community pub.
If I buy £500 worth of shares, I will get 20p per pint discount. A quick calculation means, if I drink 7 pints a day for a whole year, I get my money back (plus the next spare bed in the local Liver Transplant Unit)
