Glad this Wasn't For Real

So last week's Day Skipper Course covered an chart familiarisation and this week I find myself at the chart table in the lifeboat - GULP! Now I have done some basic nav training and sort of watched someone else in the nav seat but to be the person in the seat while out on exercise was a completely different experience.
Even the simple task of marking your current position becomes difficult while travelling at speed, in the dark, with one red light* on the same side that I write with. If nothing else it makes you appreciate how good the crew members that navigate on a shout really are.
