Life on the Good Intent

Nubian Step Pyramid

A memento of the wonderful day in December 2010 when I travelled in a coach with the staff of the RICK in Khartoum. A very surreal experience to be receiving text alerts from Scotrail on the day when snow brought Scotland to a standstill and I was bowling through the desert 'singing' along to Sudanese folk tunes.
On the way back from the Nuclear Medicine in Shendi we stopped off to visit the Step Pyramids of Meroe.
A fascinating place and a great time including camel rides and souvenir browsing. I must back blip some of my pictures from then.
I was bought so many gifts that day including this sandstone pyramid formed of the same stone as the pyramids. I miss my Sudanese friends.

And on the way back another text from Scotrail telling me all the trains were canceled due to the snow - strange message to arrive when I was in the desert in near 40 degree heat.
