Back Again

Spent the day in the Banks Peninsula. In Akaroa we visited the Giants House which comprises of sculpture, mosaic garden and a contemporary art gallery by the artist Josie Martin (see www.thegiantshouse.co.nz for more details). Next we undertook a two hour Harbour Nature Cruise to see the rare Hector's dolphins, seals (foto), penguins and the volcanic Cathedral Cave. Next stop Lyttelton to have a look around the town and harbour. Many of the buildings in Lyttelton were damaged by the earthquake and the Giants House suffered some damage to the gardens and the house. For us it was a touch of “Back Again” to revisit to the places and activities we did on our visit to Banks Peninsula in 2008.
