Old tree, Stowe Valley

I find this old tree stump fascinating - it sits in the middle of the river valley looking like an ancient monument. The sunlight today (whatever sunlight is) brought out the gnarled bark details beautifully. I thought it looked even better in monochrome, with a small amount of green filtering to bring it up against the grass.
